ABA Disaster Relief

ABA Disaster Relief was founded on the idea of helping those in need. Ever since our organization was established, we have endeavored to provide help where the need is greatest. Our team is made up entirely of volunteers. We advocate for those who need our help. Even a little help goes a long way. That is why we are especially happy to find new volunteers who share our commitment to doing good in the world. Do you want to support us by helping with our work? Then do not hesitate to contact us. A helping hand is always greatly appreciated!

Our History

Several years ago, the Fouraker Road Baptist Church of Jacksonville, Florida decided to create ABA Disaster Relief to give everyone who is interested, the opportunity to help those in need. Helping the community grew to become a permanent part of the lives of their members under the leadership of the current director, which at that time was serving as their pastor. In 2005 the current director accepted the position of Senior Pastor of the Oakwood Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida. The ministry was left with the Fouraker Baptist Church. After they called a new pastor, he had no vision for this ministry. So Fouraker voted to ask Oakwood to sponsor the ministry. The Oakwood congregation graciously accepted the ministry. For the next 3 years the ministry would continue to grow to the point that it required a full-time director. The current director resigned as pastor to head up the ministry. The ministry continued to grow to the point it needed a larger church to sponsor the work. Oakwood Baptist Church turned over the sponsorship to First Missionary Baptist Church of Antioch, California and the Heritage Baptist Church of Missouri City, Texas in 2008. These two church continue to have a great vision for this ministry. Recently, because the ministry continued to grow we called John Hancock to serve as the Assistant Director. In 2014, after much prayer, the Westwood Missionary Baptist Church in Winter Haven, Florida became the sponsoring church for the ministry after moving the ministry to Winter Haven, Florida. The congregation at Westwood MBC is excited and looking forward to great things in the future for the ministry and the exciting things that God has in store for it. In August 2015, Director Marvin “Moose” Jackson the inspiration for the ABA Disaster Relief went home to be with his Lord after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. John Hancock who is now a member of the Westwood MBC was made Director with Elaine Jackson as Secretary. We thank the Lord for the burden that was placed on Brother Moose Jackson’s heart to help people when they were going through a time of devastation and disaster.
